However, it has drums and bass. It also features Mr Nuclear Power on overdubbed keyboards. Full Cab Ride http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/fullcabride.mp3 6:33 Wed, 12 Jul 2006 15:21:28 -0500 Pfeif This was recorded live at a studio session in the winter of '06. It has two major sections with a final reprise at the end. Think about riding in a taxi with a crazy driver who drives really fast and never stops. Twilight Car Trip http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/Twilight%20Car%20Trip.m4v 5:50 Thu, 13 Jul 2006 15:30:00 -0500 Pfeif The video is a continuous car ride (no breaks) of my travels from a performance venue after a rehersal to a house party. The song was an early version of "Sunday At Four" from my second album, "fer drum and bass." It was originally called "Twilight," which occured right before this video was filmed. For more info, check out www.pfeifmusic.com. EMI Shootout http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/EMIShootout.m4a 8:02 Mon, 17 Jul 2006 13:17:00 -0500 Pfeif This song was recorded live in 2004 during a studio session with Mr Nuclear Power. He thought it would be a good idea to put gun samples in a song, so I created this with that in mind. We know that it has been done before, but this sounded good despite that. Enjoy. Hot Windows http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/HotWindows.m4a 5:00 Wed, 19 Jul 2006 10:45:00 -0500 Pfeif The majority of this song is composed of samples taken of the power windows in my car. I thought of it on a hot day while I played with the buttons for the windows mindlessly. It was made in summer 2002. Maids Of Flint http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/MaidsOfFlint.m4a 3:06 Wed, 19 Jul 2006 12:32:00 -0500 Mr Nuclear Power Mr Nuclear Power made this song and I can't get enough of it. Some of the vocal samples are from a 45 record set on how to be a good secretary. It's breakbeat tempo and awesome. For more info on Mr Nuclear Power check out: http://www.pfeifmusic.com/thing2/listartist.htm Freon Burn http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/FreonBurn.m4a 7:10 Thu, 17 Aug 2006 22:19:00 -0500 Pfeif This is another live tune recorded in 2004. Most of it was pre-sequenced and produced, but it was recorded from a bunch of synths working at the same time without a computer running the show. There is a cool section in the middle where it feels like the drums duke it out. I kept recording after the song was done and it launched into this crazy 30-min ambiant jam. That's what you hear comming in at the end of the tune. Enjoy. High Line http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/HighLine.m4a 4:46 Sat, 23 Sep 2006 11:37:00 -0500 Pfeif Happy Autumn! Here's a new one. It feels slow because the snare hits are strongly on the 3's, but it's bumping at 170 bpm. Thanks for listening. Enjoy. Wall of Terror http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/WallOfTerror.mp3 6:24 Sat, 14 Oct 2006 13:01:00 -0500 Pfeif This one is like a wall of sound and released near Halloween=>Wall of Terror. Thanks for listening despite the crappy review posted! Center http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/center.m4a 4:49 Mon, 30 Oct 2006 21:55:00 -0500 Pfeif This is a song from 2001. I was listening to a lot of Hiden Agenda then. I used to listen to King Crimson and I thought the sound of the Stick was great! So I sampled it. Distance Modulus http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/Distance_Modulus.m4a 4:49 Sun, 05 Nov 2006 11:32:00 -0500 Pfeif This song was made for someone who wanted a song about the distance modulus. It's a four-on-the-floor techno-tempo song with my voice through a vocoder. Everyone has fun with a vocoder now and then. Enjoy! Remain Logical http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/Remain_Logical_by_Pfeif.mp3 5:34 Fri, 10 Nov 2006 06:23:11 -0500 Pfeif I'm a big fan of zombie movies and access. This song has a little bit of both: samples from a zombie movie and some virus bass. Thanks to London Elektricity at the Hospital Records Podcast for listening to my demos. Saturn http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/Saturn_by_Pfeif.mp3 6:44 Sat, 02 Dec 2006 08:09:00 EDT Pfeif I started this song one time and thought the orchestra sample was awesome. Then I couldn't finish it. It has been sitting around for a while. So, I tried to wrap it up. This is the most that I'm going to work on it. It's done. Enjoy. World Of Tomorrow http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/WorldOfTomorrow_by_Pfeif.m4v 5:22 Mon, 01 Jan 2007 20:28:00 EDT Pfeif The grungy guitar-band samples are from a golden translucent 7" that I bought at a local college music show in my hometown back in high school. I never really liked the songs on the record, but I kept it because it was really cool looking and I liked the band's style. I played in garage bands at the time and these guys were someone to look up to. The video uses "stop animation" on some Horrified B-Movie Victims and a scary...squirrel. Apparently, this is what I think the world of tomorrow will look like. Enjoy! Check out more at www.pfeifmusic.com or www.myspace.com/pfeifmusic. Email: pfeif@pfeifmusic.com. I'd love to hear feedback on this movie. Sammy's Ride http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/Sammy_by_Pfeif.mp3 5:42 Mon, 05 Feb 2007 16:00:00 EDT Pfeif This is song tells the story of Sammy. He is a guy who knows how to get around. He's got girls in every single town. As for me, I broke my finger playing dodgeball at my league: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vdbl. Any questions or comments (good and bad) can be sent to pfeif@pfeifmusic.com or on myspace at www.myspace.com/pfeifmusic. If anyone feels like writing a comment on my podcast homepage, I would appreciate it. Currently, there is only one comment and it says I suck. Thanks and enjoy. Feb DJ Mix http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/2007-2-23-DJPfeif.mp3 49:04 Fri, 23 Feb 2007 16:45:00 EDT DJ Pfeif I listen to dnb dj podcasts all the freakin' time: while I'm out in the world working it; or driving it; or trying to block out the annoying. It's time I gave back to the world. This is from DJ Pfeif, member of the 413DNB. Enjoy a romp through my collection of vinyl on a pair of super unsweet decks. If you are reading this and you think I suck or you think I rock, write a quick freakin' review of the podcast or drop me an email telling me what you think. As it is, I know of only three people who actually listen to this thing. Big ups Samson and Prospect! www.myspace.com/pfeifmusic March DJ Mix http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/2007-3-13-DJPfeif.mp3 60:46 Wed, 14 Mar 2007 20:45:00 EDT DJ Pfeif Enjoy the mix from March! A few years ago I was in a band (playing bass) and we used to sing through my PA. It was awesome until we blew out the cones on the speakers one day at practice. I learned two things: always use compression when your singer can't sing and I don't remember the other thing, but it was smart. So, I went out to Radio Shack a couple of weeks later to pick up some electronics components and I happen upon a clearance table with two 12" car speakers for $10 each. The speakers that I had blown were 10". I figured that I could try to put these crap-o "Pro Series" woofers in the 10" PA speaker housings. I rigged the speakers so that they stick out of the case about 7 cm and are held in with drywall screws. They've held strong 'til today and I don't think they will go south anytime soon. Thanks for listening. Check it out at http://mtg.upf.edu/reactable/. It is a table-top synthesizer that is controled and manipulated by placing, turning, and removing pieces of plastic with cool designs on them. That is an oversimplification, but the it gets the point across--kind of... I've set about to make one for myself. It's a tricky task, but I feel it is absolutely worth it! So far, I've created a simple program that is controled by one of the handheld pieces in a programing language called Pure Data (Pd for short). The plastic controler looks like a paper weight. I made a bunch of them and I'm testing how well they work in my system. After I'm done with this project, I might take over the world. Drum and bass podcasts, Unite! Besides that, my birthday is comming up. So, wish me a happy birthday by enjoying this mix. www.pfeifmusic.com; www.myspace.com/pfeifmusic August DJ Mix http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/2007-8-28-DJPfeif.m4a 57:17 Tue, 28 Aug 2007 19:17:00 EDT DJ Pfeif Enjoy The August Mix. My real job and a new baby girl have been keeping me busy on the mainland. After I spun this mix, I realized that a lot of the songs apear on the last podcast...oops. I hadn't played them those discs for a while (probably since the last podcast) and I haven't bought any new ones, so I got repeats. Enjoy the Mix from Mass. www.pfeifmusic.com; www.myspace.com/pfeifmusic Mr Nuclearpower Mashup http://www.pfeifmusic.com/podcast/mnp_mashup.m4a 65:28 Thu, 10 Jan 2008 16:00:00 EST Mr Nuclearpower Happy New Year! We decided to ask Mr Nuclearpower if he would put together a mashup of some of his favorite songs. This is the result. They are overy intelligent, up-tempo, heady songs from the turn of the century that have a special place in our hearts. It's akin to how we all like that Chris Isaac song about not wanting to fall in love, but don't admit it to anybody. Enjoy. www.pfeifmusic.com; www.myspace.com/pfeifmusic
